DiscEject 2DiscEject is a handy utility for OS X that ejects CDs and DVDs stuck in your Mac. It's very fast and simple, and is successful while other methods fail. DiscEject can be used for non-stuck CDs or DVDs as well.
The DiscEject Advanced application (included) can eject a disc even if it's used by other application: it has a success rate of about 95%. DiscEject physically and safely ejects the disc in a few seconds. Note that it won't work on remote disc drives (for example the MacBook Air). If you like it, consider making a donation. In 6 months of life it had more than 10,000 downloads and a big number of very positive reviews. More than 75,000 people are now using DiscEject around the world. DiscEject has ejected more thousands of stuck discs, and probably had saved a big amount of money by saving the disc drives from stuck discs for free. A comment: I was tearing my hair out for 18 hours before trying DiscEject, which sorted the problem within seconds - totally fantastic! The sense of relief was amazing! A comment: "Little but useful". Exactly what I need with some DVD. Before I had to restart my Mac to eject. Thank you. (5/5 stars) A comment: Snow Leopard 10.6.2 has broken the function keys such as Sound / Eject buttons so this little app is a God-send! (5/5 stars) A comment: A very handy little app! I no longer have to restart or use a paper clip to eject "unejectable" disks! Works GREAT with both my internal and external DVD/CD drives. DiscEject can be used for...- Ejecting stuck CDs and DVDs
- Ejecting of non-stuck discs: you only have the DiscEject icon in the dock, and you click to safely eject a disc in a second! Common Q & A:Q: How can I have DiscEject in the dock?
A: You simply drag the DiscEject application icon into the dock! Q: Why the disc can't be ejected even with DiscEject? A: There can be 4 reasons: 1. The disc drive is damaged (call Apple Support). 2. The disc is so stuck that even DiscEject isn't able to eject it. 3. You are probably trying to eject a disc (probably with a MacBook Air) on a remote disc drive. 4. The disc is used by another application: in this case, DiscEject Advanced should do the job :) Q: Which is the difference between DiscEject and DiscEject Advanced? A: DiscEject Advanced is used only when DiscEject doesn't work: you'll probably hear strange noises from the disc drive when you use DiscEject Advanced. Q: I can't see DiscEject running. Why? A: DiscEject runs in background. Q: How can I install the DiscEject Service for the keyboard shortcut? A: Look at the instructions in the DiscEject Service folder. |
