DiscEject 1.8

Description:

DiscEject is a little but useful utility for Mac OS X that ejects the stuck CDs and DVDs. Is very fast and simple, and is successfull while other methods fail. You just open DiscEject or drag&drop a stuck CD or DVD into it, and the disc (if no application uses it) in 1 second is out!
DiscEject can also be used to eject non-stuck discs!
Note that it won't work on remote disc drives (for example the MacBook Air).

In 6 months of life it had more than 10,000 downloads and a big number of very positive reviews. More than 50,000 people is using DiscEject around the world.
DiscEject has ejected more thousands of stuck discs, and probably had saved a big amount of money by saving the disc drives from stuck discs for free.

DiscEject received the "Famous Software Award" because of its usability, speed and power.

A comment: I was tearing my hair out for 18 hours before trying DiscEject, which sorted the problem within seconds - totally fantastic! The sense of relief was amazing!

A comment: "Little but useful". Exactly what I need with some DVD.  Before I had to restart my Mac to eject.   Thank you.  (5/5 stars)

A comment: Snow Leopard 10.6.2 has broken the function keys such as Sound / Eject buttons so this little app is a God-send!  (5/5 stars)

A comment: A very handy little app! I no longer have to restart or use a paper clip to eject "unejectable" disks! Works GREAT with both my internal and external DVD/CD drives.  (5/5 stars)

Change Log

(8.13.2012) Version 1.8 - Improved DiscEject Advanced: now it should eject discs in more situations and even from MacBook Air USB SuperDrive.
Now both apps are enabled for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.

(12.22.2011) Version 1.7 - Added DiscEject Service, which will add the possibility to eject discs with a custom keyboard shortcut (see in ReadMe file how to do it).

(12.28.2010) Version 1.6 - Added DiscEject Advanced: this is a new application that uses 2 different ejecting techniques for 3 times: you'll probably hear strange noises from the disc drive since the stuck disc is forced to eject more times. Use this only for strong cases.

(6.12.2010) Version 1.5 - Fixed a newly introduced bug that causes a "double ejecting" on some new Macs.

(6.11.2010) Version 1.4 - A major effectiveness improvement: now DiscEject will try to eject a stuck disc 3 times, with 3 different safe techniques.

(2.7.2010) Version 1.3 - DiscEject is up to 2x faster and is now capable to eject a stuck disc in 1 second. This new version runs in background and the "Running" window was deleted. Now, for better performance, you have two different versions: Intel and PowerPC.

(12.24.2009) Version 1.2 - Now you can eject CDs and DVDs  by drag&drop disc icon in DiscEject application icon. If the stuck disc isn't displayed on the desktop, you can open DiscEject to eject it.

(12.14.2009) Version 1.1 - A little effectiveness improvement: this should eject discs in more situations.

(12.7.2009) Version 1.0 - Initial public release.

Known Q & A:

Q: How can I have DiscEject in the dock?
A: You simply drag the DiscEject application icon into the dock!

Q: Why the disc can't be ejected even with DiscEject?
A: There can be 4 reasons:
1. The disc is used by another application.
2. The disc drive is damaged (call Apple Support).
3. The disc is so stuck that even DiscEject isn't able to eject it.
4.You are probably trying to eject a disc (probably with a MacBook Air) on a remote disc drive.

A: DiscEject Advanced is used only when DiscEject doesn't work: you'll probably hear strange noises from the disc drive when you use DiscEject Advanced.

A: DisceEect runs in background.

Q: How can I install the DiscEject Service for the keyboard shortcut?
A: Look at the instructions in the DiscEject Service folder.
